Threadless’s Downpour in a Forest
Downpour in a Forest by jun21 is my favorite Threadless print this week. I really enjoy the sense of motion in this piece- there’s the lovely downward cascade of the the hill the trees sit on, the upward motion of the birds and they fly across the sun, and even the gentle fall of the lines that travel downward from the trees. It all works to keep the eye moving across the piece, interacting with it at different angles as you are pulled in multiple directions. There’s also a really fun clash between the organic and the geometric, with the realistic detail and chaos of the trees becoming a very ordered series of lines in different thicknesses. My only wish is that the trees were a bit MORE organic- some of the repetition of shape makes it a little too obvious that specific trees are being used multiple times, and I think keeping them all unique and original would play better with the overall theme.
