Starry Coffee by ilovedoodle is a terrific design for those who love both art and a hot beverage. The conceit of depicting the drink’s steam as the stars from Van Gogh’s Starry Night is a clever enough concept on its own, but by taking the joke a couple of steps farther this piece becomes an absolute classic. The doodle of Van Gogh’s face on the cup makes the single handle into its own punchline, forming an ear that solves the mystery of why the artist only wanted one. Another neat detail is the tiny starry puff of smoke from the cup’s tiny pipe. And even apart from the humor, I always love seeing art that uses the full canvas of the shirt- shaping the artwork into a tall, thin composition highlights the starry steam, and also helps the design to stand out in a crowd of mostly horizontal arrangements. Good stuff!
