Pampling’s The Great Wave of Coffee
The Great Wave of Coffee by Gloopz takes the famous Great Wave Off Kanagawa piece in a new direction by placing it in a coffee machine-style pitcher. The coffee pot’s shape, especially with the clunky black handle, is unmistakable, but the volume markings on the pot’s side and a small coffee cup graphic help to add to the recognizability. There’s even a color shift for the wave itself, transforming the white peaks to shades of brown and tan that suit the color of coffee. Another smart visual detail is the way the vertical title tag is balanced by a thin reflection line in the same color at the bottom of the pot. It’s all very well executed, and I enjoy the way the kinetic energy of the wave is made to represent the caffeinated energy of coffee in this way- it just feels right!
