Introducing Rival Tees

There’s a new t-shirt site in town, and they’re looking for submissions! Rival Tees is a sports-themed shirt site from the same folks as TeeFury, offering two new designs each week that fight it out in a battle format (and a catalog full of other designs that are always available).

If you’re familiar with TeeFury, then you already know how Rival Tees works for submitting designers. They’ve got a submissions page ready to go and are offering $1 USD per item sold for designs sold while in the battle format, and $2 USD per item sold for designs in the gallery. So far, some designs featured have been 100% sports, while others focus on sports-themed movies and TV or even pop culture put into a sports team style. So even if sports aren’t necessarily your strong suit as an artist, it may be worth your while to take a look.

Check out Rival Tees and see for yourself!

Collage in Shirt Design: 15 great examples

Of all the art styles that can be used on a t-shirt, collage just might be the most difficult. It takes a creative and experienced eye to develop relationships in color, shape, texture and meaning from materials that are, at least at first, unrelated. But it can be done, and when done well the results can be spectacular. Here are 15 great examples of Collage in shirt design…

Top Daily Tees of 2017

2017 has come to a close, so it’s time to reminisce about some of the daily t-shirt design industry’s biggest hits and most clever prints from the past year. As usual, there are some other sites that I’d like to include, but in order to put the list together I have to limit my focus to the sites that have current, up to date archives of their past print libraries. In no particular order, here’s a look at my personal top three prints from these daily tee sites this year…

TeeFury

The Devil’s Music by Steven Rhodes (November 5th, 2017)

Pitch-perfect retro styling makes this ode to dangerous music come alive.

Remember to Exorcise by DinoMike (October 14th, 2017)

A seriously crazed cartoony Beetlejuice portrait makes this pun a winner.

Blade Fun-Run by Captain Ribman (March 5th, 2017)

So many references that even the most ardent fan will be impressed.

Shirt.Woot

That’s What I Do by Manospd (September 5th, 2017)

A literary twist turned one of Game of Thrones’s most popular quotes into even more of a nerd motto.

Please Bear With Me by DinoMike (August 1st, 2017)

Simple and cute, this bear’s slightly asymmetrical features only add to his charms.

Hot Dog Summer by Vo Maria (July 26th, 2017)

This hot dog baking in the sun perfectly captures the chilled out feeling of a lazy summer day.

RIPT Apparel

Space Invader Anatomy by alex.pawlicki (February 15th, 2017)

Who could have guessed what horrors lurked below that pixel exterior?

Old Hyrule by Fallavollita (August 15th, 2017)

These clean, thick lines carve out a scene that feels full of adventure and possibility.

Edgar Allen Crow by ScottNeilsonConcepts (August 25th, 2017)

Quoth the raven, “Winter is Coming!”

Top Daily Tees of 2016

2016 has come to a close, so it’s time to reminisce about some of the daily t-shirt design industry’s biggest hits and most clever prints from the past year. As usual, there are some other sites that I’d like to include, but in order to put the list together I have to limit my focus to the sites that have current, up to date archives of their past print libraries. In no particular order, here’s a look at my personal top three prints from these daily tee sites this year…

TeeFury

Jellyspace by Angoes25 (September 6th, 2016)

A jellyfish becomes akin to an alien lifeform in this colorful space epic.

Reading Lovecraft by queenmob (October 15th, 2016)

Reading Rainbow transforms into a creepy tentacle in this ode to a master of horror stories.

She-Read by wytrab8 (June 9th, 2016)

A masterful parody that injects an action cartoon favorite with some brains and self-actualizing spirit.

Shirt.Woot

Good Luck Cat by Skylar Hogan (August 3rd, 2016)

I love the roughness of the illustration and the bored malevolence of the black cat’s expression.

Cosmic Bear by Spiritgreen (July 9th, 2016)

Beautiful coloring makes this design a standout, a lovely mix of outer space and a forest nature scene.

I Dream of Freeze-Dried Ice Cream by Rasabi (May 21st, 2016)

A fun ode to the childhood dream that most of us never quite managed to experience, all done up in a style reminiscent of the real thing.

RIPT Apparel

Rebellion by alex.pawlicki (December 19th, 2016)

Perfectly mimics the style of Metropolis, starring with the standout robot from the new Star Wars.

Optimus Trans by manospd (June 29th, 2016)

I love the seriousness and solidness of this business-minded Transformers parody.

Currently available at TeePublic.

Triple Beagle Portrait by AlbertoArni (June 26th, 2016)

A loving tribute to all Snoopys, from the early comic to his modern incarnation and all his most fun moments in between (especially those pilot goggles!).

Currently available at TeePublic.
