Sore Thumbs: The Complete Controller List

A number of people (greater than one, less than 85) have requested a list of all the controllers used in my Sore Thumbs shirt. Based on my notes, here’s the list:

Atari 2600, GCE Vectrex, NES, NES Max, Magnavox Odyssey, Colecovision, Atari 7800, NES Advantage, Mattel Intelivision, Atari 5200, Sega Master System, NEC Turbografx-16, Nintendo Super Family, Panasonic 3D0, Sony Playstation, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, Sega Genesis 6 Button, Nintendo Virtual Boy, Sony Playstation Dual Analog, Super NES, Atari Jaguar, Sega Saturn, Sega Saturn 3D, XBOX Controller S, Wavebird, Wii, Sega Dreamcast, XBOX “Duke,” XBOX 360, Wii Classic, and Gamecube.

I admittedly left at least one out- you’ll notice that there’s no Playstation 3 controller. I decided that it was so visually similar to the Dual Analog that it would be needlessly repetitive. Some other controllers (Powerglove, mouse, etc) were left out because they didn’t fit the theme (they would be unlikely to result in sore thumbs).

If there are other controllers I missed, let me know!

Also, if anyone missed this shirt while it was on Woot, copies are still available at this link. Shirt.Woot has the interesting strategy of putting shirts back up for sale through a secret link, though it only lasts for a limited amount of time. It’s been controversial with some Woot members, but I like this system- it was the only way my family could get copies since my shirt sold out quickly.

What a great idea – and a very fun design. If I were a die-hard video gamer, I’d totally get this! (I’m a computer gamer…no sore thumbs come our way)

did you get any money for this? I hope it’s not just a one time fee to you and all the profit goes to them.

I live in Vancouver, Canada and I want this shirt! But, shirt.woot doesn’t ship outside US. Could you please sell this item through Threadless.com. I’ve bought many shirts from there and they ship to me too.

anonymous #1: Don’t worry, I’m being well compensated. The way Woot pays is to give a flat fee for the first day of sales, and a dollar amount per shirt sold for any following days. I doubled my money by selling a lot after the first day, so I made plenty of cash.

anonymous #2: It sucks that you couldn’t get the shirt because of shipping issues! If you know someone in the US who can buy one and ship it to you, that’s probably your best bet. You might want to ask around on the Woot forums to see if anyone will help you out. (I can’t sell this one to Threadless, since I already sold it to Woot!)
