Threadless’s Classy Dachshund
Classy Dachshund by Michele_Nolli is my favorite Threadless print this week. It’s steeped in personality, especially in the sideways glance the dog appears to give the viewer. “I realize this is ridiculous,” he seems to say, “but it’s also quite a stunning look, don’t you think?” I love the way length is such a feature of the piece, emphasizing the dog’s long nose and ears by putting them alongside a tall top hat, elongated pipe, and loose fronds of his cravat. Another major highlight is the excellent use of texture, which gives a fabric sheen to the hat, realistic fur to the dog, wood grain adorning the pipe, and even a stylized swirling to the air that gives the feeling of pipe smoke and fog to create a very London sort of ambiance. In the background a lone tower adds even more story, hinting at discoveries just beyond the viewer’s sight lines. So good!
