Threadless’s Dreamy Petal
Dreamy Petal by AndyWestface is my favorite Threadless print this week. It’s got this type of playful minimalism that is just plain fun to look at. I love the way the curves and points of the feathers are also reflected in the way the bird’s body is handled, mimicking the same flow. And that magnificent tail isn’t alone in its colorful glory, those same shades also peek out from the bird’s elaborate hairstyle. As the tail travels down the tee, each feather gets bigger- this is a great way to lead the eye around the piece, and also exaggerates the size of the tail (making it seem even longer and more dramatic). I also have to call attention to the specific colors used- it’s so smart to use a whole rainbow of tones instead of just the colors these feathers are most known for. After all, what peacock fan would ever object to a little extra drama?
