Pampling’s Say Aaa

Say Aaa by Rodrigo Maia uses a famous rock logo to create a new gag. What I love here is the attention to detail with both characters feeling fully realized. The rocker is poured into some skinny jeans and sports a very metal wristband, capping off the look with a floppy hairstyle befitting a serious music fan. Meanwhile, the doctor is decked out all in white, calling even more attention to his shock of white hair and advanced age. Even better, both characters have their vision impaired (the rocker by his long bangs, and the doctor with his prominent glasses), which helps the logo mishap make a little more sense. Another neat moment is the way the text is handled, using rounded forms and bright highlights that are reminiscent of the logo’s style and help the art to all feel part of the same universe.
