Pampling’s Game of Nachos

Game of Nachos by Fernando Sala mixes Game of Thrones with food in a way that works really well. Using chips in place of swords for the iron throne is brilliant because it captures their sharp and jagged nature, also making the avocado look even softer by comparison. Guacamole caps some of the chip edges and even pools on the floor, implying some heinous carnage we’ve just missed. While the avocado on the throne smiles, the viewer sees his softness, his deliciousness, and knows that his reign will also be short, another victim of the nachos. There’s also a natural fit in using the snacks we eat while watching TV to parody them- a connection between binge eating and binge watching, if you will. It’s a fun piece, and ought to find a lot of fans due to its mix of two very popular things.
