Pampling’s Choco Abdominal

Choco Abdominal by Fernando Sala is a fun twist on the idea of exercising to get a six pack. Using the rigid chunks of a candy bar to represent muscles just feels funny, mixing unhealthiness with health and using the hardness we expect of candy bars as another reason for the viewer to see strain in the snack’s actions- it can take a lot of force to break a chunk off a thick chocolate bar, so you have to think this poor fellow has very little chance of completing a similar motion for some sit-ups. On top of the great concept, I also like the choice to add a headband to the character. By doing this, the two sections at the top are obscured, creating the perfect number of six being toned below. Even the small water bottle does its part in this design by balancing the art and emphasizing the huge upward motion achieved by the chocolate. Nice work.

Pampling has two options for winners of their contest. XPress winners earn 1 euro per shirt sold, with a minimum of 100 euros guaranteed. If the design sells well, designers may have the option of earning 500 euros to give Pampling the exclusive printing rights for one year. The second option is Classic winners, who earn 680 euros cash and 120 euros in t-shirts (or 720 euros cash) for the first 400 units and exclusive rights for 3 years. If the design is reprinted, the artist earns 850 euros cash and 150 euros in Pampling products (or 900 euros cash).
