Shirt.Woot’s Color of the Year 2019 derby voting highlights

With the subject matter wide open and only a single color required, Shirt.Woot‘s Color of the Year 2019 derby was a bit of a creative free-for-all with artists taking the opportunity to create designs that ranged from the purely artistic to the humorous and even some pop culture references. Here’s a look at two current derby voting underdogs that I think could use some more attention…

D’oh Nut by jrberger cleverly uses a trio of donuts to create Homer Simpson’s face. It’s a great concept, and doesn’t even need the two white w’s that serve as Homer’s hair- the resemblance is clear enough already.

Shades of Bacon by mekazoo is a nice piece of pixel art, a style that doesn’t get nearly enough attention in the derby. The pixel style helps it to feel like this slice is actively sizzling. And who doesn’t love bacon?

This derby continues through Thursday at noon. The top three vote-getters will each earn $1000 cash and $2 per item sold. Additionally, other designs will be selected and sold for $2 per item each. Both top vote-getters and selected designs will be sold in a future Plus sale.
