Shirt.Woot’s Star Warps derby voting highlights

Shirt.Woot‘s Star Warps derby gave fans the chance to design shirts about the Star Wars universe, with interesting results. A surprise for me was how many designs seemed to not be parody at all, instead giving artistic takes on characters and slogans. But if you’re like me and tend to prefer humor to pure fan service, there’s still a lot to enjoy (including most of the current fog). Here’s a look at two current voting underdogs that I’d like to see get some more attention…

Your Tauntaun Has Died by thehookshot is a well-crafted parody of both Star Wars and Oregon Trail, capturing a moment in the films that feels about as risky and unpleasant as having to ford a river with your wagon.

BB-Q by patrickspens immediately won me over with how warm and fuzzy the art is, using thick, soft lines and a sunny color palette to create the image of a delicious meal with a friend on a hot summer day.

This derby continues through Thursday at noon. The top three vote-getters will each earn $1000 cash and $2 per item sold. Additionally, other designs will be selected and sold for $2 per item each. Both top vote-getters and selected designs will be sold in a future Plus sale.
