Pampling’s Free Hugs

Free Hugs by Vallina84 plays with a familiar concept, the cactus who just wants a hug. But what I find compelling about this design is the way it takes that idea and makes it something more… by literally making more! Because this is a whole collection of cacti instead of just a single plant, the story changes. Instead of a sole cactus wanting a hug, now ALL cacti on the planet want a hug! Each of those crooked arms is hanging out there in hopes of an embrace, totally unaware that their spikes and desert isolation are the reason their advances are spurned. In light of that, seeing all these cacti bunched together in one pot is a happy thought- they’re finally getting the cuddles they crave. The artist also used the opportunity to give each plant a different personality, so a whole bunch of colors, blossom styles, and sizes are represented in the group, enough so that everyone who looks will probably have a different favorite.

Pampling has two options for winners of their contest. XPress winners earn 1 euro per shirt sold, with a minimum of 100 euros guaranteed. If the design sells well, designers may have the option of earning 500 euros to give Pampling the exclusive printing rights for one year. The second option is Classic winners, who earn 680 euros cash and 120 euros in t-shirts (or 720 euros cash) for the first 400 units and exclusive rights for 3 years. If the design is reprinted, the artist earns 850 euros cash and 150 euros in Pampling products (or 900 euros cash).
