Camiseteria’s Tonight Will Have Moonlight

Tonight Will Have Moonlight by rodisley jose da silva makes an appealing connection between the vastness of the universe and a child’s imagination, showing a young boy blowing bubbles that transform into massive planets. Part of what I like about this as a concept is that it feels very complete- it’s easy to picture broken bubbles becoming the stars, for instance, and fun to think of bubbles that drift off forever, continually growing. The way the boy is treated is smart as well, with angling that makes him appear to loom over the small viewer. This playing with size helps to make sense of the bubble/planet transition. Painting the child in color while the universe scene remains in black and white is a choice that makes the sky seem realistic, while the child in his bright, unconventional colors might be a daydream. It all comes together feeling unusual, but also a friendly, fun take on the creation of the universe.
