Camiseteria’s It Girl

It_Girl by Gustavo Lacerdo Eduardo takes the common phrase often used to describe ingenues and models and applies it to the famous clown-themed horror film, with hilarious results. The realism of the clown’s portrayal is a big part of why this works for me, with smart details like the ruffles that add to her characterization. Her shadows feel realistic and give her dimension, making it easy to embrace the concept and imagine the clown from It as a stylish, iconic model. Using the film’s familiar red balloon to explain the concept and act as a prop is a brilliant choice… but also one that slightly falls short due to its rough execution. While the rest of the art is realistic and three dimensional, the balloon is decidedly flat and feels like a last minute addition- it doesn’t even cast a shadow over the clown’s forehead. Just some slight finessing in that area could have made this shirt even more successful.
