Camiseteria’s Pecado

Pecado by Jackson Duarte is a bold, surreal image that transforms the sliced peel of an apple into a coiling snake. A couple of things help this combo to really work. Firstly, the realism of both the apple and the snake make the mix feel more potent and threatening than something more cartoony would have. It also helps make the snake look more alive and in motion, like he’s actually poised to sink his fangs into something. Secondly, the distressing of the artwork is a nice touch and accomplishes a lot at once. It helps to give the apple’s curves some dimension, while at the same time introducing texture to the peel as it becomes snakeskin. My favorite thing about it, though, is how it makes the design feel so well-worn, which is perfect for a depiction of sin. The text at the bottom succeeds in clarifying the theme and giving context to the imagery.
