Camiseteria’s O Viajante

O Viajante by Saulo Alonso de Souza Pereira uses a twist on the illustration-filled silhouette style that you don’t see very often, placing a dapper bicycling fellow within his own silhouette. The distinctive hat is what makes it work for me, because I see it as a guy who buys a hat in hopes of becoming an eccentric as his choice of headwear. By choosing this unusual cap, he’s trying to be less ordinary. So the cap shows his dream existence, biking across a pristine landscape below a multi-mooned night sky. In a neat touch, even in the dream his hat is a bit special, decorated with a moon motif. There’s also something interesting about how much more real the dream looks than the silhouette, since it’s packed with specific detail compared to the smooth anonymity of the outer frame.
