Camiseteria’s Jon Snow

Jon Snow by Eliúde Valverde celebrated Game of Thrones with some cool character art, and I think this piece achieves its goals well. I like the subtle way that Jon’s hair fades into the direwolf’s fur (not easy to achieve since both are different colors). Jon’s face is captured especially nicely, bowed forward and glowing orange almost as though he’s peering into a fire’s flames. The gradient shift from fire-y orange to icy blue feels like a nice nod to the character’s heritage. While I think the direwolf could do with a bit more exaggerating (he looks too much like a normal wolf here, I’d have enjoyed some fierceness or proportion shifts to communicate his more wild nature), there’s an intelligence in the animal’s eyes that shines through. And of course, seeing a moon so prominently brings connotations like shifting seasons, night, and wilderness that suit the design’s themes well. Good stuff!
