Monsieur Poulet’s Classic Gamer

Classic Gamer by der Grootfontein is a recent print at Monsieur Poulet that really blows me away. It’s rare to see a feminine take on the video game tee, and there’s something wonderfully subtle about this one. I love that the single game reference is that universal directional pad graphic, carefully disguised as an earring. It’s a nice take on the spread of gaming’s audience- it used to just be fanboys and kids, but these days even your Mom probably plays a little Farmville or Bejeweled. For the younger ladies with wider tastes who have grown up with games, a shirt like this is a cool way to represent that aspect of your personality without sacrificing fashion.

Monsieur Poulet Sale

For broke Americans like me, sales are just about the only time it makes sense to buy from the Euro tee sites. And Monsieur Poulet‘s current sale is enough of a break to make it more purchase-friendly than usual, so I recommend taking a look. These guys have a lot of great designs, including Aphte’s Tour au nez pontu and Relax by Postics, that have received more than a few mentions here in the past.

Prices are usually 26 euros, but are reduced to 15 euros right now for the sale. That’s about $19.50, Americans- so if you’re planning to buy, you’d best do it now!

Monsieur Poulet’s Pow

Pow by Jiro is new at Monsieur Poulet, and it’s pretty much the definition of awesome. Two badass alien creatures explode in a frenzy of comic-style action. But they’re not just any aliens. They’re the kind of stylish dudes who know that neon loincloths and tiger-striped spandex are always the height of fashion. It makes for a deliciously 80s vibe, and I’m seriously digging the bright color palette. If you like comics and you like weird, this is precisely the shirt for you. And if you don’t like those things… well, frankly I feel a bit bad for you!

Winners earn 2 Euros per item sold, for a total of up to 2000 Euros.

Monsieur Poulet’s Relax

Relax by de Postics at Monsieur Poulet is one of those shirts that immediately catches the eye- with its slightly altered primary color palette, you can’t help but look. Playing with primaries can be a bit of a dangerous game, because it’s so easy to look dated or uninspired. But here, it’s like a child’s imagination on acid, full of zany characters and light psychedelia. My favorite bit is the serene sun hanging over the angry hula bunnies. It’s great to see art that is just weird for the sake of being weird.

Each month, Monsieur Poulet chooses two winning designs. Winners earn 2 Euros per item sold, for a total of up to 2000 Euros.

Monsieur Poulet’s New Chicken Contest

Monsieur Poulet, a great, quirky French tee contest site, is covering some new ground with their newest competition– this time, artists are asked to design sneakers! It’s a cool opportunity, and given the interesting illustration that Monsieur Poulet favors in their shirt contest I’m excited to see how it plays out.

Enter before September 30th, 2010 for your chance to win. Winners at Monsieur Poulet earn 2 euros per item sold with their design.

Note: The site is in French, so if you’re unable to understand anything I recommend using http://translate.google.com

Monsieur Poulet’s Popcorn Contest

Monsieur Poulet is a a French contest that (like many international contests) I never seem to cover as much as I should. This can largely be chalked up to the language barrier, but that’s a bit of a weak excuse since Google Translate catches all the important bits.

Consider that a roundabout way of saying that if your lack of French skills has been keeping you from giving Monsieur Poulet a try, this might be a good opportunity to change your ways.

Monsieur Poulet has teamed up with mk2 for the Pop Corn Contest, aiming to celebrate all that is rad about going to the movies. And there’s a neat stylistic twist- they’re asking that all entries use only Red, White, and Black as colors (including shirt color). Interesting!

Enter before September 9th 2010 for your chance to win. I’m not sure if there’s a special prize for this themed contest (maybe someone with better French skills will chime in!) but the traditional prize at Monsieur Poulet is 2 Euros per item sold, for a total of up to 2000 Euros.

Monsieur Poulet’s The Green Team

One of the things I love about international shirt sites is the way they always catch me a bit off-guard. The Green Team by de Halfbob is a quirky one for sure, high on expressiveness and enthusiasm rather than precision and pretension. The loose, fun way it is draw adds to the story- it’s easy to imagine some veggie-hating kid doodling this in their notebook as they dream of being a superhero that could defeat these villains. Props to Monsieur Poulet for taking a chance on a design like this that a lot of other sites would have passed on by.
