Shirt.Woot: Fall is for Shirts derby voting highlights

Shirt.Woot‘s Fall is for Shirts derby ushered in autumn with a cornucopia of designs featuring warm color palettes, woodsy animals, comfort food, and of course a healthy dose of falling leaves in brilliant colors. Here’s what caught my eye…

Fox Falling by PixelPants is a seriously impressive piece (and one that would certainly have made the derby’s top three if entered earlier). I love the rustic texture, and the way the leaves curve to make this leafy fox feel fully three dimensional.

I Am The Forest by yazmoq takes an interesting approach to a deer silhouette, almost making the face and antlers a second thought by putting all the visual emphasis on the vibrant forest tucked away in the neck. It’s a beautiful scene, and I’m curious how its effect would change if the same art were applied to a shirt color that highlighted the sky’s dark blues more.

This derby continues through Thursday at noon. The top three vote-getters will each earn $1000 cash and $2 per item sold. Additionally, other designs will be selected and sold for $2 per item each. Both top vote-getters and selected designs will be sold in a future Plus sale.

Shirt.Woot Derby #620: GONE!

Shirt.Woot is thinking about what can’t be seen with their latest derby theme…

Starting Thursday at noon: Derby #620: GONE!

Things fade. Stuff disappears. Seasons get cancelled. Everything dies. Your kid brother eats the last bowl of your favorite cereal with that stupid, smug look on his face. So yeah, the theme for next week’s Derby is: Gone. (No, the topic isn’t missing, nerd. Gone IS the topic). Also, cream tees are long gone.

This derby begins Thursday at noon and continues through next Thursday at noon. The top three vote-getters will each earn $1000 and $2 per item sold after the first day of sales. Those winners will be sold on Friday (1st), Saturday (2nd), and Sunday (3rd). Additionally, other designs may be selected for a Plus sale on the following Monday, with each selected design earning $2 per item sold.

Shirt.Woot’s Derby Editor’s Choice: Artist’s Choice collections

Shirt.Woot’s Derby Editor’s Choice: Artist’s Choice – Part 1 plus sale has an impressively clunky title, but what it boils down to is this- these shirts are the best of the best, as created by artists with no theme restrictions, and then chosen by Woot staff (who see a ton of art on a daily basis, and thus have become quite discerning). Here’s what caught my eye…

Best of the Bunch: Millenium Diamond by Kharmazero makes a famous spaceship feel like a finely crafted piece of stained glass.

Nicest Surprise: King of the Wood by Oakenspirit uses textured lines and gradients to create an owl who feels so warm, he practically seems to glow.

Shirt I Am Most Biased About: My design The Fox and the Houndstooth is a minimal ode to puns and pattern.

This promotion will only last until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday. So if there’s something you like, grab it fast!

Due to how many high quality entries were submitted, Shirt.Woot also made room for a Derby Editor’s Choice: Artist’s Choice – Part 2 plus sale. So if you liked the shirts above, check these out for more in the same bracket. Here’s a quick look at some standouts…

Best of the Bunch: The Monster Booth by Kg07 first caught my eye in voting, and I think its stylized look should strike a chord with discerning Doctor Who fans.

Nicest Surprise: I love the weird whimsy of Unicorndog by Krane0223. His mane must be made of cheese or mustard, right?

This promotion will only last until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday. So if there’s something you like, grab it fast!

Shirt.Woot’s Vintage Slogans and Logos derby voting highlights

Shirt.Woot‘s Vintage Slogans and Logos derby had artists creating cool throwback looks for all sorts of material, from pop culture parodies to original jokes and art. There’s a lot to like, both in the fog and outside it, but here are a couple of current voting underdogs that I’d like to see get some more attention…

PIZZA! by ApeLad makes an intriguing geometrical argument for pizza’s merits.

West is Best by transformingegg is a fun take on Batman, with the caped crusader disguising himself in every letter. I like the way it adds interest with the retro blue uniform in the I.

This derby continues through Thursday at noon. The top three vote-getters will each earn $1000 cash and $2 per item sold. Additionally, other designs will be selected and sold for $2 per item each. Both top vote-getters and selected designs will be sold in a future Plus sale.

Shirt.Woot Derby #619: Fall

Just as a new season arrives, so does a brand new Shirt.Woot derby theme…

Starting Thursday at noon: Derby #619: Fall

Fall is here! Almost! On not at all, here in Texas. But anyway, next week’s derby is all about the universal favorite season: Fall! So fall in line and fall in love with fall. Just don’t fall into the trap of submitting cream tees. ?

This derby begins Thursday at noon and continues through next Thursday at noon. The top three vote-getters will each earn $1000 and $2 per item sold after the first day of sales. Those winners will be sold on Friday (1st), Saturday (2nd), and Sunday (3rd). Additionally, other designs may be selected for a Plus sale on the following Monday, with each selected design earning $2 per item sold.

Shirt.Woot: Artist’s Choice derby voting highlights

With its promise of artistic freedom (and the chance at more than usual resulting daily shirt prints), Shirt.Woot‘s Artist’s Choice derby definitely lived up to the hype with a lot of high quality entries and a huge range of art styles and subject matter. While there was a lot to like, these are the two voting underdogs that I’d especially like to see get some more attention…

Here There Be Monsters by kg07 manages to feel more fresh than the average Doctor Who piece by using a simplified, stylized look. It’s also fun for fans to try to see how many of these iconic villains they can name.

Code of Pirates by collinvh sets just the right creepy tone with its atmospheric take on a pirate scene. The use of subtle lines of code is a nice way to reference more modern styles of piracy.

This derby continues through Thursday at noon. The top three vote-getters will each earn $1000 cash and $2 per item sold. Additionally, other designs will be selected and sold for $2 per item each. Both top vote-getters and selected designs will be sold in a future Plus sale.

Shirt.Woot’s Visual Poetry collection

Shirt.Woot’s Derby Editor’s Choice: Visual Poetry plus sale is certainly pleasing to the eye, boasting both designs built with artist poetry in mind and those referencing (or even creating!) actual poems. Here’s what caught my eye…

Best of the Bunch: Sailing the High Cs by Benjaminleebates is a sweet bit of punning and a cunning combo that should please both pirate fans and music lovers.

Nicest Surprise: To Yeti, Or Not To Yeti by Clsantos82 takes some of the most quoted prose in the world and gives it a cryptid twist.

Shirt I Am Most Biased About: My design Nature’s Poetry uses a strongly weighted print placement to show a forest at sunset (and a squirrel!).

This derby continues through Thursday at noon. The top three vote-getters will each earn $1000 cash and $2 per item sold. Additionally, other designs will be selected and sold for $2 per item each. Both top vote-getters and selected designs will be sold in a future Plus sale.
