Shirt.Woot Derby #681: LiteraShirts

Artists might want to hit up the library to prep for Shirt.Woot‘s latest derby theme…

Starting Thursday at noon: Derby #681: LiteraShirts

November is National Literacy Month and this week’s derby is all about illustrating literary greats! Draw your favorite literary works, but remember that if your art is not parody it must reference works already in the public domain. Show off your smarts and reading skills and encourage others to soak in writings of excellent form, imaginative artistry or expression of ideas! Text is allowed, but just like Derby #679, we don’t need books published on shirts! Just a few guidelines for this one; No Mo Poe, and no cream shirts.

This derby begins Thursday at noon and continues through next Thursday at noon. The top three vote-getters will each earn $1000 and $2 per item sold after the first day of sales. Those winners will be sold on Friday (1st), Saturday (2nd), and Sunday (3rd). Additionally, other designs may be selected for a Plus sale on the following Monday, with each selected design earning $2 per item sold.

Shirt.Woot’s Derby Editor’s Choice: Sports Nutz collection

Athletics was the focus for artists in the Shirt.Woot Derby Editor’s Choice: Sports Nutz plus sale, with designs taking many approaches to the subject matter- both pro and con, as well as pop culture parodies and video games. Here’s what caught my eye…

Best of the Bunch: I Have the Balls to Say It! by Walmazan is a cute, punny piece for the sports haters among us.

Nicest Surprise: Lucha Cado by mekazoo first caught my eye in voting with its silly cartooning, and I think the character will look great printed.

Shirt I Am Most Biased About: My design I Like Sports is for folks who aren’t too fussed about the details.

This promotion will only last until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday. So if there’s something you like, grab it fast!

Shirt.Woot’s Hand Lettering & Typography derby voting highlights

Shirt.Woot gave wordsmiths a leg up with their Hand Lettering & Typography derby, which showcased both clever slogans and beautiful type treatments. Filling familiar silhouettes with quotes and other text was an especially popular approach. Here’s a look at two current voting underdogs that I think could use some more attention…

Good Old Days by mekazoo hits just the right playful note with its golden, sunset color palette and letters that seem to dance before your eyes.

Late From the Future by shadyjibes reframes procrastination as an effective time user’s holiday, and makes the slogan even more dramatic with some subtle gradients.

This derby continues through Thursday at noon. The top three vote-getters will each earn $1000 cash and $2 per item sold. Additionally, other designs will be selected and sold for $2 per item each. Both top vote-getters and selected designs will be sold in a future Plus sale.

Shirt.Woot Derby #680: Road Trip

Shirt.Woot is hoping to drive artists to greatness with their latest derby theme…

Starting Thursday at noon: Derby #680: Road Trip

We’re going on a road trip and we’re gonna bring an Apple, a Banana, a Cat…and a Shirt! Ok, I skipped a couple letters… the vehicle is anything with wheels that can, ya know, travel on a road. The destination is up to you and so is the content! Yep, there are no rules here except no cream tees!

This derby begins Thursday at noon and continues through next Thursday at noon. The top three vote-getters will each earn $1000 and $2 per item sold after the first day of sales. Those winners will be sold on Friday (1st), Saturday (2nd), and Sunday (3rd). Shirt.Woot’s Derby Editor’s Choice: First World Problems collection

Everyday annoyances, both real and from pop culture, were the focus for artists in Shirt.Woot’s Derby Editor’s Choice: First World Problems plus sale. Slogans and cartoons bring the humor, with situations to suit most comedy preferences. Here’s what caught my eye…

Best of the Bunch: Cardiac Arrest by Mekazoo turns sweets into the police in a tasty illustration that pulls your heartstrings.

Nicest Surprise: First World Problems by Yazmoq was a favorite of mine in voting, and I think its zany mix of sci-fi dangers will look excellent on a tee.

Shirts I Am Most Biased About: My designs I Am Sworn to Fumble Your Burdens and How Do You Slice a Pizza? lampoon video games and fast food.

This promotion will only last until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday. So if there’s something you like, grab it fast!
