Shirt.Woot’s Editor’s Picks: Artist’s Choice collection

What do artists create when they can make anything in the world, with no constraints? We found out in the recent derby, and Shirt.Woot’s Editor’s Picks: Artist’s Choice plus sale collects the cream of the crop. Here’s what caught my eye…

Best of the Bunch: Taco Math by fishbiscuit5 would make anyone laugh, whether they like math or not!

Nicest Surprise: Aqua Trident by artguyaaron was a favorite of mine in voting for the genuinely aquatic feel of its linework.

This promotion will only last until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday. So if there’s something you like, grab it fast!

Shirt.Woot’s Color of the Year 2019 derby voting highlights

With the subject matter wide open and only a single color required, Shirt.Woot‘s Color of the Year 2019 derby was a bit of a creative free-for-all with artists taking the opportunity to create designs that ranged from the purely artistic to the humorous and even some pop culture references. Here’s a look at two current derby voting underdogs that I think could use some more attention…

D’oh Nut by jrberger cleverly uses a trio of donuts to create Homer Simpson’s face. It’s a great concept, and doesn’t even need the two white w’s that serve as Homer’s hair- the resemblance is clear enough already.

Shades of Bacon by mekazoo is a nice piece of pixel art, a style that doesn’t get nearly enough attention in the derby. The pixel style helps it to feel like this slice is actively sizzling. And who doesn’t love bacon?

This derby continues through Thursday at noon. The top three vote-getters will each earn $1000 cash and $2 per item sold. Additionally, other designs will be selected and sold for $2 per item each. Both top vote-getters and selected designs will be sold in a future Plus sale.

Clocks in Shirt Design: 15 great examples

They can reveal the passing of time, the transition from day to night, or even designate a specific moment. The clock in all its forms, whether traditional gears or modern digital, is the kind of everyday object that is useful, beautiful, and can imply many different emotions and stories through the context in which it is used. Here’s a look at 15 times artists used clocks to create amazing shirt designs…

Shirt.Woot Derby #689: Events From the Last 100 Years

Time to refresh your memory on not-so-recent events, Shirt.Woot‘s latest derby theme is…

Starting Thursday at noon: Derby #689: Events From the Last 100 Years

We are looking back at major pop culture or historical events of the last 100 years for this week’s contest. You can depict or make fun of or celebrate any major event that you choose from 1919 to 2019! Let’s stay away from political events from the last decade though, just in case…as my Mother would say, “ Not enough time has passed ”. Other than that there are no limits! Well there is that no cream tees rule.

This derby begins Thursday at noon and continues through next Thursday at noon. The top three vote-getters will each earn $1000 and $2 per item sold after the first day of sales. Those winners will be sold on Friday (1st), Saturday (2nd), and Sunday (3rd). Additionally, other designs may be selected for a Plus sale on the following Monday, with each selected design earning $2 per item sold.

Shirt.Woot’s Derby Editor’s Choice: Fresh & Clean collection

Shirt.Woot kept things spick and span with their Derby Editor’s Choice: Fresh & Clean plus sale. From hygiene to general tidying up, the concept of cleanliness was tackled from many angles by Woot artists. Here’s what caught my eye…

Best of the Bunch: Fresh AF by mekazoo first impressed me in voting with how it paired a clean slogan with a pared-down style.

Nicest Surprise: Apathy Spray by Apelad was another voting favorite, nailing its vintage advertising style.

Shirt I Am Most Biased About: My design CleanBot 2000 is an advanced cleaning robot with one minor flaw.

This promotion will only last until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday. So if there’s something you like, grab it fast!

Shirt.Woot’s Artist’s Choice derby voting highlights

Shirt.Woot left the theme wide open for their Artist’s Choice derby this week, and the artists responded with a huge variety in design types from smart slogans to highly detailed illustrations. While there were a lot of excellent entries to choose from, here’s a look at two current voting underdogs that I think could use some more attention…

Stellar Gondolier by sebasebi uses shading and smoothly curved lines to create soft waves that feel almost otherworldly as they ooze beneath a mysterious skyscape.

Aqua Trident by artguyaaron impresses with its sheer intricacy, and the style of line used feels authentically aquatic.

This derby continues through Thursday at noon. The top three vote-getters will each earn $1000 cash and $2 per item sold. Additionally, other designs will be selected and sold for $2 per item each. Both top vote-getters and selected designs will be sold in a future Plus sale.
